For the past couple of years I have loved playing with the vector creation software Inkscape. It’s open source and free to download, check it out on their website here. Usually I make stuff just for fun, although I have done some work for friends. Like this logo:
I did recently find 99designs.com, which runs graphic design contests that you can enter and hope to win. I’ve been a runner up several times and 2 weeks ago I won a placemat contest for a clam shack in Osaka, Japan:

It’s kinda addicting to enter the contests, it usually only takes a little while to make an entry and when I’m already playing with the software it is nice to have a prompt. I’ve also been working on my own logo/site redesign. I want to have a logo with the Z of zounds in addition to the whole name. Here are my initial mock ups:
I’m going with mustard, light and dark blue with white accents for the colors. I’m leaning toward the top left or top right. What do you think?

I like the one on the bottom right. Really. the only one I don’t is the top right. To much white.
